In Our Shoes is dedicated to providing housing and solutions to young adults aging out of foster care, keeping at the front the priorities of normalization, independence, and ownership.
Housing Foundation
Goal - Our goal is to form a foundation that supports young adults. This foundation will help provide funding for housing as well as other supports. We will support young adults directly or provide grants to other organizations supporting young adults aging out of foster care, building a community that, together, will bring change.

Housing Options
We will partner with youth to help individuals determine housing solutions that fit their needs and circumstances. Housing partnerships may include
- Family Housing - Where the youth enters into a contract with a family to live in their home.
- Apartment - Youth applies for and is responsible for the lease of an apartment.
- Community housing - Multiple youth share the responsibility of a home or apartment, learning how to work with roommates and build community. The lease of the apartment will be determined upon consideration and monitored regularly by staff or volunteer.
- Partnership with other organizations serving young adults.
Housing Stages
- Full Support - Young adult will be 100% supported in their housing for no more than 3 months in order to identify and stabilize their resources.
- Level 1 Support - Young adult is responsible for 25% of their housing and foundation 75%.
- Level 2 Support - Young adult is responsible for 50% and foundation 50%.
- Level 3 Support - Young adult is responsible for 75% and foundation 25%.
- Level 4 Support - Young adult is supported as needed in emergent situations.
