So, today is 1 week, plus a day, since I wrote. It's challenging to keep up with a blog so one of the things I will do is not promise a time frame anymore.
Life totally takes things for rides some times. This week has been a whirlwind, to say the least. I spoke for a singles organization on Saturday and then on Monday I received a call that Senator Barringer was available to meet with me on Tuesday. So yesterday I had the honor of getting to meet her. It was the most power packed 15 minute conversation I have ever had. We began our discussion talking about the state of foster care here in North Carolina and a bill that she is currently submitting to address some of the challenges. I presented her with a 15 second synopsis of my vision for In Our Shoes and she was extremely encouraging and excited to hear what I had to say. We ended our conversation with her emphasizing that she would be getting a hold of me to talk more about everything. I am both highly encouraged and excited. After my meeting I called my parents. I said to them, "You know it is something I am passionate about when I can sit and talk with a Senator about it because I am not someone who enjoys politics much at all." Looking forward to what is ahead of us, knowing this is going to be a very challenging journey but worth everything we will face.....
